MARVIN: Marie Patricia “Pat” (nee LaPointe) – passed away peacefully on Thursday March 30, 2017 at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe. Pat Marvin of Forestville in her 70th year.
Beloved wife of Ron Marvin who she married July 26, 1975. Loving mother of Todd & wife Jodie of St. George and Craig & wife Cindy of Caledonia. Sadly missed by her grandchildren, Tyler & Samantha, Travis & Amanda, Danielle & Nicholas, Rebecca and by her great grandchildren Isaac and Isabel. Survived by her sisters Delores and Bernie Chambers, Eileen Arsenault and Joan & Bob Allard all of New Brunswick and by brothers Del & Pat of Winnipeg, Gabe & Shirley of St. Catharines, Lloyd & Marlene of Silver Hill and Leo & Marlene of New Brunswick.
Predeceased by her brothers Ted, Philip, Eugene & Adrian LaPointe.
A celebration of Pat’s life will take place on Saturday April 8, 2017 from 1-4pm at the St. Williams Community Centre.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jeffrey W. Glendinning Funeral Home, 36 Front St., Port Rowan.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Juravinski Cancer Centre 699 Concession St., Hamilton, ON L8V 5C2 and would be appreciated by the family.
SMITH: Rodney Douglas – passed away peacefully at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on March 15, 2017 in his 87th year. Born September 24, 1929, Rodney was the son of John Henry Smith and Stella Rowles of Charlotteville Township, Norfolk County.
Predeceased by his wife Dorothy May Engell (October 13, 1998).
Loving father of Wendy Cronk (David), Valerie Stinson (John), Joanna Garvey (Roger) and Rodney Smith Jr. (Pam). Sadly missed by his grandchildren Stephen (Michelle), Jeffrey (Cynthia), Meghan, Kyle and Matthew. He had six great grandchildren and known as “Papa the Great” to Chloe, Ella and Wesley Cronk. Brother of Barbara Gall and Wallace Smith (Ruth) and brother-in-law of Wilma Smith.
Predeceased by his brothers Roy Smith, Bruce Smith and sisters Betty Cullen (Jim) and Dorothy Inman.
He was an Active, lifelong member of the Walsh Community and leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. A passionate supporter of the Masonic Orders for over 50 years, Rodney was Past Master of Vittoria Lodge and a member of the Norfolk Shrine Club. While active he valued the time being an active local businessman. Rodney was foreman for Kelly Construction in his younger years. He then owned and operated R. D. Smith Construction whose motto was “We Move the Earth” for many years.
Relatives and friends may call at the Jeffrey W. Glendinning Funeral Home, 36 Front Street, Port Rowan on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be conducted in the Clark Chapel of the funeral home on Saturday March 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Walsh United Church Cemetery. Memorial donations to Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Dialysis Unit or the Shriners Hospital for Children.
