Bryson, Vivian “Bif” (nee Owens) After several years of characteristically feisty effort, Bif lost her valiant battle against cancer on Tuesday, March 29th, 2016. She is survived by her adoring husband, Hugh; her loving daughter, Barb; her favourite-son-in-law, Kurt; and her sweet grandson, Bryson. She is also survived by her dear brother, David Owens, and her beloved sister-in-law, Yvonne.
Bif was a Registered Nurse who worked mainly in homecare, first with the Victorian Order of Nurses in Winnipeg, and then with St. Elizabeth Nursing in the Hamilton area. Her nursing career lead her to many close friendships, which in turn lead to many adventures and funny stories.
Since her marriage, Bif and her family moved to many different cities, with Bif collecting friends along the way. The Brysons lived in Winnipeg, Burlington, Port Coquitlam, and Oakville. After retirement, Bif and Hugh lived in Tillsonburg, Long Point, and finally in Port Rowan. They also spent a few winters in Apache Junction, where Bif loved exploring Arizona and uncovering the many hiking trails in the Superstition Mountains. No matter the city, town or country, Bif gathered a large circle of friends which she cherished right to the end.
Bif will be remembered for her easy smile and her love for life, her quarter-winning spirit in Yahtzee games, her unending support and love, and for being a second mom to many of her daughter’s friends. She will also be remembered as a cherished and irreplaceable wife, for how well she coped with her illness, and how graciously and bravely she faced her final days.
Relatives and friends may call at the Jeffrey W. Glendinning Funeral Home, 36 Front St., Port Rowan, Ontario on Saturday April 9, 2016 from 12 noon until 12:45pm. A Memorial Service in the Clark Chapel of the funeral home will follow at 1:00pm. Interment in Bayview Cemetery, Port Rowan.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society (cheques accepted) would be appreciated by the family.
